The Jazz performer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award-winner was born on February 20, 1937, in Chillicothe Ohio to iron-worker Olden Wilson and the former Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy was one of six kids. Nancy was extremely influenced when she was a young girl by the music her father played and loved when she was at her home. As a young girl she was already able to establish an idea of who she was as well as what she wanted to do. Church choirs helped develop this talent. Cannonball Aderley suggested she move in New York so as to enhance her career. In 1959, Nancy moved to The Big Town. Within one month, she got an offer to sing in The Blue Morocco Night Club on Boston Road in The Bronx where Adderley's agent heard her, and she was signed. In 1960, he enlisted her to Capitol Records and in that same year she released her first single. Guess Who Saw Today. Capitol Records issued five Nancy Wilson albums over a period of two years.
