Nancy Wilson (jazz singer) was born to Olden Wilson as an ironworker from Chillicothe on February 20, 1937. She was the daughter of Lillian Ryan worked as housekeeper. Nancy was the eldest of six children. Nancy loved listening to records from her father as well as his passion for music. At the age of four, Nancy knew she would be a singer. Within one month, she got an offer to sing in The Blue Morocco Night Club on Boston Road in The Bronx which was where her agent was introduced to her voice and agreed to sign her. Under the direction of Cannonball Adderley, Wilson began concentrating on R&B and then shifted her focus towards torch and jazz.
